What to look for in a wedding photo app

There are many ways to ask guests for photos. Before you choose, look at six things: whether anything must be installed, who is responsible for the data, how the files are downloaded, how long they are kept, whether there is a screen in the room and how you pay. This guide does not rank products. At the end of each point, how MyEventQR answers it.
No app to install
At a wedding people do not want another sign-up or a search in an app store. Ask whether the phone camera and the browser are enough, and whether the person uploading needs an account. If the path has several steps, part of the table will not finish it.
With MyEventQR a guest scans the QR and uploads in the browser, with no app and no account. The account belongs only to the organiser. Where to leave the cards is in guest photos with a QR.
Privacy and GDPR
Wedding photos are data about people. It is worth knowing who decides to collect them, who stores them, for how long and how the person uploading is told. Also whether the full gallery is public or only the organiser sees it, and whether someone can be left out.
With MyEventQR, you decide to collect the memories and you are responsible for that processing. MyEventQR stores them to provide the service. Before uploading, the guest sees a notice: they are kept for the event and for 14 days after it expires, and are then deleted. The notice links to the privacy policy. You see the full gallery. The MyEventQR team does not open the photos.
Downloads and copies
Ask whether you receive the original files, whether the first copy is included and what it costs to download again. An album that can only be viewed on the web leaves you without a copy on the day the service closes.
On MyEventQR the first copy of each file is always free. The Event Plan includes two full downloads; after that, €0.15/GB with a minimum of €3. On the Pro Plan, repeats share 1 TB a year across the account; after that, the same rate. On the trial there are two full downloads, one file at a time. The prices on the pricing page are the final prices.
How long files are kept
Look at when the period starts and what happens when it ends. “Deleted when it closes” and “kept while you pay” are not the same, and neither is a hard drive at home. Put the download date on the calendar.
On MyEventQR the period starts when you create the event: 72 hours on the trial, 90 days on the Event Plan and 365 days from payment on the Pro Plan. Storage: 100 MB and up to 20 photos on the trial, 20 GB on the Event Plan and 200 GB per account on the Pro Plan. After expiry there are 14 days to download, and then the files are deleted. The trial cannot be extended and does not become a paid plan.
A screen in the room
If you want to project, ask whether the screen is optional, whether it shows everything that is uploaded and whether you can take a photo off it without deleting it from the album. Also whether the live link can be closed with a code.
On MyEventQR, Live Wall is optional and shows photos only. You can hide any photo from the gallery without deleting it. The buttons are described in how to control the Live Wall.
How you pay
Separate a trial, a one-time payment and a fee that renews. Look at what the headline price includes: days, storage, the screen and downloads. A trial that cannot become the real event means creating another one once you know you will use it.
MyEventQR has a Demo Mode with no card, once only, which does not become an Event Plan or a Pro Plan. The Event Plan is a one-time payment of €39. The Pro Plan is a one-time payment of €249, for 365 days, with no automatic renewal. During the open beta, payments are not active. For the rest of the wedding, the checklist leaves photos as one more box.
