Photos from a communion, baptism or family celebration with a QR code
At a communion, a baptism or a family lunch, photos end up scattered across phones. A QR on the table gathers them with no app and no account. This guide covers where to leave it, how to explain it, what to watch when children are in the photos and how to download afterwards.
After the ceremony, not in the middle of it
Many places of worship are not the right spot for a QR during the service, and you do not need one there. The useful moment is the exit, the group photo and, above all, the meal. That is where people sit, take out a phone and have time. If the celebration is only at home or in a hall, the QR can be out from the moment the first guests arrive.
MyEventQR does not ask the guest for an account. They scan and upload. You see the gallery in the dashboard. Live Wall is optional: if you turn it on, you can project photos in the room. At a family lunch the screen is sometimes unnecessary and the album is enough. You decide. The screen shows photos only, in a reduced version, and you can hide any photo without deleting it.
Where to leave the QR so people actually use it
- A standing card on each table at the meal, with a large code and a light background. That is the spot that works best.
- Another at the entrance or on the gift table, for anyone who arrives before they sit down.
- If you print a favour card, the QR can go on the back with one short line. Do not hide it in a tiny corner.
- If you use a 4-digit PIN, write it under the code. Without the PIN, uploads are blocked when the event is protected.
At these tables someone has never scanned a QR. Let a cousin or a sibling take the first photo with them watching: open the camera, point it at the code and pick two or three photos. Once is enough for the rest of the table to copy it. You do not need a speech. One line on the card helps: “Upload today’s photos here. No app and no sign-up.”
What to explain, especially if children are there
Say out loud that the photos go to the family album, that no account is needed and that each person chooses what they upload. Ask that a photo of a child or an adult the family does not want shown stays off the screen, if there is one. You can take it off the projection from the gallery; the photo stays stored until you delete it or the event expires.
The notice the guest sees before uploading says the organizer is responsible and that MyEventQR keeps the files while the event is active and for 14 days after, then deletes them. It links to the privacy policy. Repeat that idea on the card or out loud: this is not a public album with no closing date. If the screen link will leave the room, turn the PIN on so the link alone is not enough.
Photos can be JPG, PNG or HEIC. On the demo: up to 10 MB a photo, 20 photos, 100 MB and photos only. On the Event Plan, up to 25 MB and 20 GB. On the Pro Plan, up to 30 MB and 200 GB shared by the account. On those two plans the quantity cap is storage, and videos and voice messages are included. The guestbook allows up to 5 entries on the demo; that cap does not apply on the paid plans.
Timing, the trial and downloading
The trial lasts 72 hours from the moment you create the event and does not become a paid plan. It is for printing a card, scanning it at home and checking that the code reads. For the communion or baptism, look at the Event Plan, 90 days, or the Pro Plan, 365 days from payment, on the pricing page. During the open beta, payments are not active: you can try it with no card, and the real event is purchased separately when payments are available.
After expiry there are 14 days to download before deletion. Event Plan: two full downloads; extra €0.15/GB (min. €3). Pro repeats share 1 TB a year; then the same. The first copy of each file is always free. On the trial, two full downloads, one file at a time.
The family group and the shared folder
The WhatsApp group is fine for the time of the service. For photos it compresses and mixes years of chat. Drive asks for accounts nobody will set up at lunch. The QR is on the table: whoever wants to, uploads.
For a screen at a dinner, see the company dinner guide. For a wedding, see guest photos with a QR.
Questions
Do grandparents need an account?
No. There is no guest account. Anyone who does not want to scan can hand the phone to someone else at the table, or upload nothing.
Can I keep children’s photos off a screen?
Yes. You can leave Live Wall off. If you turn it on, hide any photo you do not want projected from the gallery. The photo stays in the album.
Will the free trial cover the communion day?
Not as the album for the day. It is 72 hours and 20 photos at most, and that event does not become a paid plan. It is for trying the QR at home.
When are the photos deleted?
When the event expires there are 14 days to download. After that the files are deleted. They are not kept with no end date.
